Threshold – One of a Kind Design

The juxtaposition of man-made and natural materials has always intrigued me. Perhaps the old adage that opposites attract applies just as well to design.
I also love being able to bring something genuinely local into my work. While I have no idea what commercial building the stainless steel door handle once belonged to, I do know the 100+ year old English Elm came from a property in Kahutara, South Wairarapa, where it was milled and prepared by my friend Rob.
Together, polished stainless steel and the raw character of locally sourced timber create an unlikely balance, with concealed LED lighting transforming a once purely functional object into something with an entirely new purpose.
